Share a Post Using MagicLink

Overview

MagicLink is a secure, fast, and simple way to share BLTN posts with individuals outside of the Bulletin network.

This feature allows agencies to distribute time-sensitive or important posts to external stakeholders—such as partner agencies or community collaborators—without requiring them to have a BLTN account.

What Is MagicLink?

MagicLink generates a secure, one-time-access link that allows a recipient to view a shared BLTN post in read-only mode. It preserves the content's security while eliminating login barriers.

Steps to Share a Post via MagicLink

1. Log in and Open the Post

  • Sign into the BLTN platform.
  • Navigate to the post you wish to share.
  • Click the three-dot menu (···) in the top-right corner.
  • Select Edit.

2. Add an External Email

  • Go to the Sharing section.
  • Enter the external recipient’s email address.
  • Save the post to trigger the MagicLink email.

3. Email Notification Sent

  • The recipient will receive an email with the post title, agency name, and sender’s name.
  • They will click Open Post to proceed.

4. Email Verification

  • The recipient enters their email address.
  • They click Send me a MagicLink.
  • A second email will be sent containing either:
    • A one-time passcode, or
    • A secure link to the post.

5. View the Post

  • The recipient clicks the link and views the post securely.
  • They can access:
    • Title and description
    • Photos, videos, and media
    • Creator name and contact info
    • Note: MagicLink recipients cannot edit the post or browse other areas of the BLTN application.
